Machine setup for Phase A.10:

  1. Top energy ( nominally Eb = 7 TeV)

     

  2. Good beam lifetime ( at least 1 hour)

     

  3. For Phase with Un-squeeze optics: b*1,2,5,8 = 11, 10, 11, 10 m

  4. For Phase with squeeze optics: b*1,2,5,8 in steps down to the agreed values

  5. Beam type: pilot

    • Ib:  from  ~ 41010 p+/bunch to 91010 p+/bunch

    • en: Nominal emittances (try small emittances, ~ 2.5 microns?)

    • eL: Nominal emittance agreed for 7 TeV for both beams

    • 1x1 bunches of pilot intensity sufficient to see first collisions in point 1 and 5 with a few Hz in the BRANs; better accuracy with few 1010 p+/bunch. Later 43x43 and 156x156

    • No crossing angle

  6. LHC modes:

    • ADJUST ® STABLE BEAMS
