Phase A.10: top energy collisions

(unsqueezed and squeezed optics)

Description:

This phase is divided in four main steps:

  1. Get beams into collisions

  2. Optimize luminosity

  3. Keep background low and stable without spikes

  4. Provide a rough knowledge of the absolute luminosity from beam parameters (beam intensities and sizes)

For unsqueezed optics: Loop over increasing intensity.

For squeezed optics: Loop over decreasing ß* (we assume the same ß* steps as in phase A.11)

Each of these is of course applicable at each of the four LHC interaction points.

The procedures presented here are based on the first discussion held at the LTC on June 20th, 2007 [1].
